Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area, Abia State - In a momentous occasion that marked the beginning of a promising partnership between Federal Polytechnic Isuochi and the local community, the newly appointed Rector, Dr. Paul-Darlington Ndubuisi, embarked on his first official visit to Isuochi. This significant visit was marked by courtesy calls to two prominent figures in the community: HRM Dr. G.I. Ezekwesiri, the paramount ruler of Isuochi Ancient Kingdom, and Hon. Dr. Nkeiruka Onyejiocha, Deputy Chief Whip of Nigeria's House of Representatives.
The visit, which took place on February 21, 2023, was a symbolic gesture aimed at fostering collaboration, understanding, and mutual growth between the educational institution and the Isuochi community. Dr. Onyema S. Edward reported that Dr. Ndubuisi, who assumed office as the Pioneer Rector of Federal Polytechnic Isuochi earlier this year, expressed his commitment to strengthening the ties between the polytechnic and its surrounding community.
During the courtesy call to HRM Dr. G.I. Ezekwesiri, Dr. Ndubuisi acknowledged the vital role that traditional leadership plays in maintaining social harmony and progress in Isuochi. He emphasized the polytechnic's desire to actively engage with the community and collaborate on various developmental projects.
In his remarks, HRM Dr. G.I. Ezekwesiri welcomed Rector Dr. Ndubuisi, Bursar Dr. OJE Anyanwu, and Registrar Mrs. Ezenuruihe Ifenyinwa Olachi, expressing his delight at their willingness to collaborate with the Isuochi community. He commended the Federal Government of Nigeria, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), as well as the polytechnic, for their roles in providing educational opportunities for the youth and pledged the community's support in achieving shared objectives.
Following the visit to the traditional ruler, Rector Ndubuisi and his delegation paid a courtesy call to Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejiocha, Deputy Chief Whip of Nigeria's House of Representatives, and a prominent figure in Nigerian politics. Hon. Onyejiocha, who represents Umunneochi and Isukwuato Federal Constituency, praised the Rector for recognizing the importance of community engagement in the pursuit of academic excellence.
During the meeting with Hon. Onyejiocha, Dr. Ndubuisi discussed the polytechnic's plans for academic and infrastructural development. He also sought her support and collaboration in securing federal funding and resources to facilitate the institution's growth.
Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejiocha expressed her commitment to supporting Federal Polytechnic Isuochi's aspirations and assured the Rector of her readiness to advocate for the institution's needs at the federal level.
According to Dr. Onyema S. Edward, the inaugural visit of Rector Ndubuisi to Isuochi and his engagement with HRM Dr. G.I. Ezekwesiri and Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejiocha mark the beginning of a promising partnership between Federal Polytechnic Isuochi and the local community. It underscores the institution's dedication to fostering development, academic excellence, and community advancement in the region. Furthermore, the Polytechnic Librarian, Mallam Drisu Ndalami Ibrahim, who was on another official engagement, sent warm greetings to the host community.
Lastly, the religious body and the principal officers of the Polytechnic, led by the Rector and Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Dr. N. Onyejiocha, took a tour of the temporary site of Isuochi Polytechnic community.
